Taekwondo
Tae Kwon Do is literally translated as "the way of kicking and punching." The Taekwondo program at LDMA focuses on forms (katas) and impact training (striking bags and shields, and sparring). LDMA students in Taekwondo are required to learn the basic aspects of Kickboxing, Weeping Style Jujutsu, and Brazilian Jiujitsu, in addition to their Taekwondo material in order to make them well rounded Martial Arts Black Belts.
Kickboxing
Kickboxing is an ancient full contact art originated in Thailand as "Muay Thai." The Kickboxing program at LDMA is heavily influenced by Muay Thai, Burmese Boxing, and Western Boxing. The class is structured for both the professional kickboxer and the recreational kickboxer. The class focuses on impact training (mitt training, heavy bag work, air shields, medicine ball work, etc.) and good old fashioned exercise (push up, pull ups, calesthenics).
Weeping Style Jujutsu
Weeping Style Jujutsu is the original art of the samurai. LDMA is the headquarters of the Weeping Style Jujutsu Association. At LDMA the Weeping Style Jujutsu program focuses on standing joint locks and control holds. Aspects of Kickboxing and Brazilian Jiujitsu are blended in to this class in order to make it a VERY effective class for pure self defense.
Brazilian Jiujitsu/Grappling
Brazilian Jiujitsu is a system of ground fighting that orginated in Brazil by the Gracie family. The Gracies took elements of Japanese Jiujitsu and Judo and created a devestating system of ground fighting. The Brazilian Jiujitsu program at LDMA focuses on drills, techniques, and sparring (actual training with resistance) in each class to guide the students to their goals.
Little Dragons
Little Dragons is a prepatory program for ages 3 to 5 years old. The focus of Little Dragons is to get children used to the structure of a Martial Arts environment and to develop the gross motor skills for the Martial Arts. Respect (yes sir's and no sir's) is another HUGE component to the Little Dragons training routine.
